Pedicures

For MOPS, we bought our coordinator a gift certificate to a spa. Of course, going to the just isn't as fun when you go alone. So, she "talked us into" joining her at the spa. (or maybe I suggested that she needed some company at the spa--I can't remember how the conversation went exactly--wink,wink) They had a really cool package deal. We got to eat lunch together (in a VERY cool private little room) and then we all had pedicures together. We got to help each other pick out colors etc. It was SO MUCH FUN!! We are all moms, and thoroughly enjoyed the break. In case you are wondering, my toes are the ones at the bottom in the black sandals. I had a wedding to go to this week, so I had them do a french manicure (never had one of those before) with some gold sparkles. (it matched my outfit for the wedding) Life is so much more fun when you have good, fun friends to share it with!! Thanks a lot gals!!!!

33 Weeks!!

That's right, I am 33 weeks along in this pregnancy. That means 7 weeks and counting!! I went a week over with Tayva, and I am really hoping that does not happen again. I hope I go a little early this time. (might just be wishful thinking, but it doesn't hurt)

I had a doctor's appointment today, and I am measuring well, and my blood sugars are in check, so no insulin needed at this point. I do have to say that I REALLY tortured myself by looking through a Paula Deen magazine and ended up drooling over all the yummy dessert in it. When I heard my stomach growling (literally), I though "enough is enough" and shut the magazine, and reminded myself--only 7 more weeks, then I can have some of those yummy desserts.

Tayva cam with me to the doctor's appointment today. I explained it all to her before we went. I told her we were going to listen to the baby's heartbeat and that it would sound like "thump, thump, thump" etc. She was really excited. The whole way to the doctor's office, she was saying "going to hear the baby in mommy's tummy". The doctor was so good to her. She let Tayva sit on a chair right next to me. After she measured my stomach, she let Tayva play with the tape measure. When we heard the baby's heartbeat, Tayva's eyes got big, and she let out an excited squeal. It was really cute. Afterward, I took a picture of her and the doctor--for 2 reasons. First, this is the same doctor that delivered her, and second, I wanted a picture for the baby's scrapbook, to show her that her big sister was excited about her, and came to some of the doctor's appointments. When we left, she said "I heard the baby in mommy's tummy--sounds like a puppy". I am not sure why she equated the baby's heartbeat to sounding like a puppy--it is amazing how their little minds work sometimes.

Hang with me

I actually have some things I want to blog about, it is just finding the time to sit down, organize my thoughts, and start writing. Stay tuned--hopefully I will find some time to do it soon. Also, I think my blog needs another new change of look, so look for that as well. These are things I intend to do, it's just finding the time. I'm sure you all can relate.

I have a scrapbooking day tomorrow, so I need to try to organize my pictures. If my pictures and things are organized, then I can get way more done. I'll try to post again soon!

A Great Weekend

We had such a fun weekend! The weather was actually fairly nice, so we got to be outside a lot. On Friday, we had some good friends over for super, then we lit a fire in the fire pit while the kiddos played outside. Tayva had a blast. It was so nice to spend the evening by the fire and enjoy the fresh air!! On Saturday, we went to the zoo, without realizing it was "kids day". So, we got the bonus of taking that in too. They had all sorts of children's games etc to enjoy. Tayva had fun with the little games, she got to pick the duckies out of the tub, shoot baskets, go "fishing" etc. It was fun. On Saturday afternoon, we packed up our stuff and headed to our friend's river lot. It is so cool because their lot has a little beach, so we set up some lawn chairs, and had a picnic supper. The kids took about a 5 min break from playing in the water, to grab a bite to eat. Tayva loved splashing in the water, and throwing toys in and retrieving them. The water is really shallow, so it was perfect for her to play in.

Today, we took Bob and my dad out for brunch for father's day. Tayva (and it) made him a little picture book that Tayva decorated and filled it with pictures of he and Tayva. He really liked it. I also said that Tayva and I would take him shopping for some new cologne, as he just ran out. (see Aunt Lorella, cologne is ALWAYS a good gift for him--you do good :) So, after Tayva's nap, we went to the store to get his cologne. To wrap up his father's day, his great friend is in town from AZ, so they went out for a Coke, he watched some of the US Open, and now gets to watch the NBA playoffs. (I have to give a disclaimer here that he really doesn't watch all that much sports, he just likes to watch the "big games", and it just so happened that the US Open and the playoffs were both on today.)

So, it was a great weekend.

Baby Thoughts

It's Monday already!! Where is the time going? We are already 9 days into June--I can't believe it. On one hand, I feel like I have SO LONG before the baby is born, and the time can't go by fast enough. When I think of how big my tummy is already, and how big I feel, I think--can I make it another 2 months? I can't wait until the baby is born, and to see her. I am also excited to be done being pregnant and to be able to eat whatever I want again. (by the way, a BIG slice of Heath Crunch pie is on my priority list of things to do after the baby is born :) We *hope* that Tayva adjusts well to the new baby and likes being a "helper". We are already praying that God would prepare her heart to have a baby in the house. Also, we pray he will prepare us to be attentive to her needs as well as the baby. So, anyway, some days I fell like I am ready to have the baby here right now--because I am so excited to see her, and because my body is becoming physically more and more uncomfortable.

Then I think of all the things I need to get done before the baby comes, and I think of waking up every couple hours to nurse the baby, and I think--wait a minute--I don't know if I am ready for this!! I like our routine now. Tayva sleeps all night, we play during the day, take a nap together during the day, and have a good routine down. Once the baby comes, that will all change. With this change in schedule, I know some wonderful changes will take place as well--now we get 2 beautiful faces to kiss, and double the joy children bring!!

So, as you can see, some days, I am so excited to have the baby and can't wait until she gets here, and on other days, I feel like she can take her time to get here. (I suppose this fluctuation of feelings could have something to do with pregnancy hormones--ya think?) At any rate, I know the Lord's timing is perfect, and she will come in due time.

End of an Era

I ended an "era" of my life yesterday. I taught my last piano lesson--for a while anyway. Bob and I decided that in the fall, I will not be giving any more piano lessons due to the new baby coming and being busy with 2 young children in the house. I really enjoyed it, but feel it is the right time to take a break from it.
My student yesterday brought me a gift certificate to one of those make, take and bake places. It is where you can choose meals that you are interested in from a menu; then you go and prepare the meals ahead of time; then put them in your freezer until your family is ready to eat them. I have done this a couple times before, and really like it. I am excited to make some meals before the baby comes. That way I will have food in the freezer to make.
I am glad I had the chance to teach piano lessons.

Happy Anniversary!

...to Bob and me. :) It is our eighth anniversary today! The time has gone by SO fast!! That is a great thing--time flies when you are having fun! My mom and dad watched Tayva tonight so we could go out to dinner. We had a great time. (despite the fact that I couldn't order a dessert due to gestational diabetes)
I know that you all know, if you have read my previous blog posts, how much I love and adore my husband. I am the most blessed of all women!!
