She says...

Tayva is at the stage where she is saying things on a daily basis that make me laugh and smile. I try to record the thing she says, but haven't been doing a great job lately. I need to make a better effort to write the things she says down.

Tonight, she sang herself to sleep singing, "God made___, God made ____, God made Everything and God made____" (to the tune of "The farmer in the Dell" --she filled in the blank with everything from "mommy" and "daddy", to cousins and Aunts and Uncles names)

Tonight she prayed and said, "Thank you Jesus, dying on the cross for my sins. Give (meaning "Forgive") me for my sins."

On a funnier note, every once in a while, when she goes "#2", she can be heard saying (or yelling :) from the bathroom, "Swiper, no swiping my poopies!!" It is absolutely HILARIOUS!! (for those of you who don't know, Swiper, is the fox character on Dora)

What a relief...

The girls each had their doctor's appts today. I just dread taking the girls to the doctor. Probably because I HATED going to the doctor as a child. I would get sick to my stomach, and just be SO nervous. I don't want them to have the same experience. Also, I was going to have the dreaded conversation with my pediatrician.....vaccines. This is a subject I don't want to get into here, but to make a long story short, I am not against vaccines, nor do I turn a blind eye and act as if there are no risks. I have done research, talked to doctor's and read books. So, I had some hard questions to ask our pediatrician, and was hoping that he would receive me as a concerned parent, not an uneducated, naive, untrusting parent.

What a relief..
First of all, my mom came with to help me with the girls. Tayva did GREAT!! She tried to be so brave. She is really sensitive, and gets nervous in those situations, so I was so proud of her. Siri did great as well--no screaming at all. :)

What a Relief...
The doctor's reports came back terrific for both girls. Healthy, happy girls-who can complain?? What a blessing indeed!!

So, I know you are waiting to find out how the vaccine conversation went.
What a Relief...
Our pediatrician received my concerns very graciously, and said he is "open-minded" about vaccines. Of course, he has some opinions, and shared them with me--which I wanted to hear. He addressed my concerns, and has really done A LOT of research on vaccines himself, and is VERY up to date. (In fact, he presents at conferences about vaccines) Anyway, we decided on an alternate vaccine schedule for Siri. I was so happy. It was just what I wanted. I feel really good about what we decided. (so Siri didn't cry at all--except for her vaccines--and settled down right away) So, I feel like she is vaccinated for the most important, relevant diseases for her risk factors (or lack of them).

What a Relief all around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has nothing to do with the doctor appt today, but I ran across this quote and thought I would share it with you. It resonated with me, especially since I had trouble during my pregnancies. It is a "If I had My Life to Do Over" quote:

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

What a thought huh?? Amazing--I "assisted" God in two miracles!!!!

***I just want to make a note about vaccines: It's a touchy subject amongst some. I feel that there are pros and cons to both sides of the argument. The reason for this post is not to get into a vaccine debate. Bob and I have done our own research, consulted with our doctor, and decided on a schedule that works for us. I am not implying that others should take the same approach we have--it is just what is right for us. To vaccinate or not is a hot topic, and I feel that every parent should do what they feel is best--no judgements made here.

In response to the comment...

Yes, Dr Dobson has interviewed a lady who survived an abortion. I don't know if the lady in this book is the same lady he interviewed. You can check it out here:

Abortion in the final debate...

Shame on you Obama...

This is from the Family Research Council:

'Born Alive' Brings Debate Alive
While it was hardly a keystone of the final presidential debate, the life issue did make a brief-but fiery-debut at the hands of moderator Bob Schieffer. Though Schieffer wrapped the abortion question in the broader topic of litmus tests for judges, it quickly became a defining moment of the night, drawing sharp contrasts between the candidates on the fundamental issue of life. On Roe v. Wade, Sen. Obama defended his support for abortion-on-demand by equating the "right" to kill an unborn child with our First Amendment rights, saying that neither "should be subject to popular vote." In his response, Sen. McCain, who said he was "proudly pro-life," outlined how Obama had "align[ed] [himself] with the extreme aspect of the pro-abortion movement in America." He pointed to Obama's record in the Illinois State Senate, where, in the Judiciary Committee, he voted against a law "that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion." McCain went on, "Then there was another bill... in the state of Illinois... where [Obama] voted against a ban on partial-birth abortion... [They were] clear-cut votes... in direct contradiction to the feelings and views of mainstream America." Obama claimed that he would never vote to withhold protection from an infant. However, records from the Illinois State Senate show that he did exactly that-not once but four times. He also said that at the time a law similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act was already on the books. Also false. According to Jill Stanek, the pro-life nurse who blew the whistle on this neglect, there was no such thing as across-the-board protection for infants who survive an abortion. Instead, the law protected only those "survivors their abortionist deems fit to live." What's more, Sen. Obama said last night that he is "completely supportive of a ban on late-term abortions, partial-birth or otherwise, as long as there's an exception for the mother's health." That statement ignores the fact that the Supreme Court has defined "health" in the abortion context to include such factors as "psychological" and "financial" well-being, that is, just about anything. I make God happy!

Tonight when I was putting Tayva to bed, after we said prayers, I was telling her that I loved her and that she is special. Then I told her that God is going to use her someday to do big things, and that he is already using her. She looked up at me and said, "I make God happy." I said, "Yes, you do Tayva. What are some things that make God happy?" She said, "Being obedient, and when I share." (then she went on to tell me how she shares with her friends and cousins)

I just loved it when she said, "I make God happy." It melted my heart.

Oh yeah, the other night in prayers, she prayed for Boz and Barney--she makes me smile on a daily basis.

McDonald's follow-up

I got this email from Family Research Council:

"McDonald's Straightens Up and Fries Right!
The Big Mac attack on family values is finally over! After a five-month boycott, Americans finally got what they ordered-McDonald's agreement to stop financing the homosexual agenda. Back in May, the fast food giant joined the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to the dismay of millions of customers who did not feel served. At the time, company Vice President Richard Ellis refused to back down, even calling conservatives "haters" in a public statement. The American Family Association launched a national campaign to force McDonald's to eat its words. And eat them, they did! This week, McDonald's announced that Ellis had resigned from the GLCC. In an email to franchises, the company said, "It is our policy not to be involved in political and social issues. McDonald's remains neutral on same-sex marriage [and the] 'homosexual agenda...'" We thank McDonald's -- and those of you who used your buying power to encourage values on the menu and in company policy. "

Yeah--now I can go get a Take 5 McFlurry!! Those are the BEST--YUM!!!!!

At The Auction!

Here are some pictures of us at the auction.

Yes, Siri is in the wrap--she slept in it for several hours while the auction carried on.

She LOVES the auction. Bob takes her to auctions sometimes on Saturday mornings, so she knows how it goes. She even helps Bob bid sometimes...oh boy.
The two girls and me taking a break for snacks.
This is one of our favorite purchases. It is perfect for pulling Tayva around the yard. She loved this wagon, and kept sitting in it.

What a fun day at the auction!!
