It just doesn't get any better...

That's right, not only am I 14 weeks pregnant, tired, and not fitting into any of my clothes, but now I was just diagnosed with mono!!! Can you believe it?? When I went to the doctor yesterday, she asked me, "have you been tired lately?" I wanted to say to her very kindly --"Um, I am 14 weeks pregnant, and chase a toddler around all day--what do you think?" No, really, I have been feeling REALLY crummy (sp?) the past few days. I had the WORST sore throat ever, and that is what made me go to the doctor. They tested me for strep throat, but that was negative. My glands and lymph nodes were/are super swollen, so she had me tested for mono. Sure enough, that is what I have--it just doesn't get any better than this!!!! Oh, and did I mention that they can't give me any medication for it because I am pregnant? That's right, none of those good meds that give you that euphoric feeling and make all the pain go away. You know, the meds that make you say "I feel great even though every lymph node in my body is swollen and I have 105 degree temperature--it's a great day!" (I had meds like that once-it made me really loopy, but boy did it make me feel better-ha! :) The most powerful meds I can take is Tylenol-yippee!! So, here I am being a hermit in my house and not going anywhere.

Actually, I have lots to be thankful for. I am SO thankful that SO FAR Tavya seems to be doing fine. I am so nervous that she will get it (or Bob). I am also thankful that my sore throat is significantly better. (not gone yet, and still sore, but at least it is bearable now). I also am thankful for Tylenol-at least it helps a bit :).

Despite how terrible you or I think this is, I have lots to be thankful for. I know God is sovereign in all this, and he knows what is going on in my body and with the baby. They say that mono is not supposed to affect the baby, but as a mom you always worry. Please keep my family and me in your prayers. I desperately do NOT want anyone else to get this!!!!

That really is awful. How long are you going to be sick? I know mono is typically long lasting. DId the Doc give you any hope?

This is going to sound to medical but..........you are taking what you can for mono and shouldn't be taking anything else.
Mono is a virus, nothing can get rid of viruses, you just have to wait it out, get lots of rest, and those power drinks that keep your electrolytes in balance.
I'll pray for your family and there will be some way that you will be allowed to just sleep.
I've had mono THREE times - I'm glad you went to the Dr. as soon as you did.
Sounds selfish - take care of you and do nothing if possible.

Oh man! I am sorry! I had mono a month before my wedding! >:I

It is NO FUN. If Tayva gets it it should only be a mild cold.

I second what Andrea said, drink lots and wait. And I wasn't pg but they didn't give me anything besides take 4 ibruprophen every 4 hours, which didn't help except for getting rid of cramps.
